Contributing to ongoing research and funding scholarship for its members’ children and turf students has long been a priority of the Greater Cincinnati GCSA. In 1999, the institution of a Research and Scholarship Tournament was begun to augment this fund.
Each year the tournament has been a highlight of our golfing calendar. Past venues have been:
1999 Crest Hills Country Club
2000 Crest Hills Country Club
2001 Crest Hills Country Club
2002 Hyde Park Country Club
2003 Terrace Park Country Club
2004 Summit Hills Country Club
2005 Royal Oak Country Club
2006 Wetherington Golf & Country Club
2007 Wetherington Golf & Country Club
2008 The Ridge Club
RESEARCH FUND
The University of Ohio State, the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation, and the Gold Tee Club of GCSAA have received donations in the last few years. Research Funds are sometimes accumulated over several years in order to make a sizable contribution to a particular project.
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Our association has a long history of funding scholarships for deserving students.
Scholarships are traditionally awarded in the spring of each year. Usually, the Howard Dammel Scholarship (named after an active promoter of our organization now deceased) is awarded to a deserving turf student. Traditionally, the Marion Mendenhall Scholarship is also awarded to the son or daughter of a Greater Cincinnati GCSA member. At the Board’s discretion, additional scholarships may be awarded.
Application Deadline for 2008 scholarships is May 15, 2008.
